GP Access – How can you help us to help you?
Our new system of GP Access has been up and running for three weeks now. The overwhelming feedback from patients is of very high satisfaction, with the clear majority preferring the new system to the old. However, demand for our service has sky-rocketed, and the doctors are working even harder than ever before. There are concerns that this level of workload may not be sustainable in the long run. You can help considerably if you follow these simple requests (please note, most patients are sensible and these issues do not apply to all, but they do apply to a significant number of patient requests and if we can ALL do our bit then we would be very grateful!)
Please bear in mind that over the last 8 years we now look after 11% more patients while our overall workload has risen 32%. The NHS is struggling to meet demand at all levels, but if we all do our bit then we can look forward to a future where ‘free health care at the point of need’ is still available for our children and grand-children.

We will do our best to deal with calls taken before 4pm on the same day, calls taken after 4pm may be asked to phone back the next day if the doctors are fully booked until the end of the day.
