The PCT would like us to refer the majority of
patients via choose and book.
When you decide a patient needs referral, and
choose and book is appropriate, please send a TASK from SystmOne to
Steve Doherty. Then dictate the letter as usual. Steve
will get someone to initiate the C+B process and then the
secretaries will type the referral into the C+B box when they get
your dictaphone tape.
The procedure for creating a choose and book
referral is something like this:
i. Clinical tree referrals - R click - New Choose
and Book referral
ii. Choose urgency
iii. Select a Read Code for Referral this is the
only NECESSARY box on this screen
iv. Click on Write Now (Not book
appointment)
v. Book Appointment (on the next screen that comes
up)
vi. Select Problem or Clinic or Named Clinician
(But not both)
vii. Search All
viii. Then Select a number of suitable
options
ix. Then View Appointments
x. Book Appointment
xi. Back in SystmOne Type the letter or Save
for Future Editing then dictate letter for
secretary
xii. Attach view select new Choose and Book
Referral Letter View (which I have just set up and included
'TODAY's CONSULTATION - Reason for Referral' as the top
heading)
xiii. Attach anything else you want
to
xiv. Send Final Version when
complete
